Quick Tip – Enhance Your Mood and Posture

Mood and Posture
The relationship between mood and posture provides an illuminating glimpse into the connection between body and mind. Body positioning can instantly affect our emotions and our mood. When we are depressed or sad, we instinctively look down at the ground. When we try to hold back tears, we automatically turn our faces upward, as if to keep the tears from falling.

Here’s a quick exercise that illustrates the power of this connection:
Stand in an idle position, with your shoulders slouched and your eyes focused down toward the ground. Take shallow breaths.

How do you feel?
Now, stand in a position of strength and positive emotion. Lift your chin up. Turn your eyes toward the sky. Smile. Breathe deeply. How do you feel now?
